Report of the Provo Rotary Luncheon Meeting held March 22, 2012


Today's meeting was held at Riverside Country Club with President Steve Densley conducting. Ron Roberts and Jill Moon provided the music. An invocation was offered by Carl Belliston.
     Guests include Angus Belliston, father of Carl Belliston. Angus is a former long-time Rotarian.
Ben Guffey
     Ben Guffey distributed nomination forms for the Service Above Self award inviting all Provo Rotarians to nominate someone from the community.
     The annual Utah Rotary district conference will be held June 1-2, 2012 at Zermatt Resort in Midway. All Rotarians are invited to attend.
Ray Beckham
     Ray Beckham introduced today's speaker, Wayne Parker, Chief Administrative Officer for Provo City, who spoke about the lovely new Utah County Convention Center which will open next month in downtown Provo.
     This 143,000 square foot facility is deisgned to be operated in harmony with the existing Marriott Hotel and Convention Center which is next door. It is built on three levels with two mezannines and a rooftop garden. It is designed to be expandible to the west.
     So far ninety events have been scheduled for 2012, the first being the Orem High School Jr. Prom.
