Today's announcement: Our speaker for today (19 Nov) will be Ginger Woolley, who will tell us about that incredibly popular nearby gem, Rock Canyon, and how she and a small group of good people (including Sen. John Valentine) have managed to preserve it in an epic 40-year struggle.  It's instructive and entertaining.  Ginger kindly agreed to step in and present to us after our scheduled speaker, Prof. Neal Bangerter, suddenly had to leave town on professional business involving his cutting-edge MRI research.  He will address us on 10 December.   There will be no Provo Rotary Luncheon next week, November 26, due to the Thanksgiving holiday. SPEAKER Professor Alonzo Cook , professor at Brigham Young University, was our guest speaker.  He spoke on the fascinating breakthroughs in tissue engineering that were being made, the ways that we are already using tissue engineering, and other subjects related to his field.

Guests were introduced, including the Speaker, his guests, and Steve Sabin's son Tyler.  Birthdays were also celebrated. SPEAKER Mark Pope , Coach Pope, the coach of Utah Valley University's men's basketball team, was our guest speaker.  He spoke on the things that drew him to UVU and the unique advantages the school has to offer.  He shared his experience and his coaching philosophy and challenged the members of Provo Rotary to become engaged with the team and the school. Vaughn Park  gave the prayer, and Danny Prager  served as Sgt. at Arms.   No Chaplain report was made. SPEAKER Bill Lee , Utah County Commissioner, spoke on a number of issues related to the County.  He spoke on the approach towards mass transit and various propositions that were on the ballot.  He also spoke on the process of registering an opinion through elections and the ways in which the County is bound by those opinions.  He also spent time discussing the potential ways funds are available for service and also took time to answer questions.

SPEAKER Derek Marshall , President of Orem Rotary Club, spoke on their fundraising efforts.  He spoke on their pancake breakfast, their attempts to sell yearly sponsorships, and other efforts to make their club effective it doing good for the community.

Carol Walker  gave the opening prayer. Sgt. at Arms duties were performed by Linda Pemberton , who asked a series of questions on NASCAR. No Chaplain report was made. No guests were present. SPEAKER Roger Thompson of Provo Parks and Recreation spoke on the benefits provided to the area by both the Parks side of the organization and the Recreation side of the organization.  He spoke on the things that the City of Provo was currently doing, the ways they were working to minimize the money needed from the community and become more self-sufficient, and plans for the future.

Upcoming Rotary Programs February 5, 2015 - Jeff Morris February 12, 2015 - Steve Lund (The meeting on February 12, 2015 will be held at Nu Skin) Report of Provo Rotary Meeting Held January 29, 2015 President Ricky Hood  conducted today's meeting.   Ron Roberts  performed double-duty by both leading and accompanying the National Anthem on the piano.  Following the pledge,  Carson  gave the opening prayer. Linda Pemberton  acted as Sgt. at Arms, and the questions were focused on the Super Bowl. The Speaker was the only guest to be introduced, and no Chaplain report was made. . SPEAKER Speaker  Alan Roberts  spoke on restoration projects he has been associated with and, in particular, the Federal and State tax credits that are available to help with the costs of such restorations.  He also spoke on the use of green technologies in restoration projects.

SPEAKER Speaker  Whit Roberts  spoke on alternative medicine and the way in which we develop allergies or inappropriately respond to substances.  He spoke on how the body can be reprogrammed to respond appropriately and how relief from chronic pain is achievable.
