Sven Wilson visits Rotary

Our speaker this week was Sven Wilson, professor and chair of the Political Science Department at BYU.  Sven is also the visionary and founder of the Character First movement as highlighted on the Doug Wright show on KSL radio . For this week's meeting,  Sven focused his thoughts on rejecting the populist movement circulating in today's politics and spoke about the necessity of a strong leader who shows compassion and isn't afraid to admit when he or she is wrong. Just another way to keep politics civil and promote goodwill in all aspects of life.

Glenn Jakins visits Rotary

Today we were pleased to hear from Glenn Jakins. After being introduced by his brother and our fellow Rotarian Darrell Jakins, we were able to hear about his innovations and business ventures, as well as his journeys from Johannesburg, to Cape Town, to London, and eventually Utah.

Provo Rotary Club takes a TRIP

Today the Provo Rotary Club toured the new Provo Orem Transportation Improvement Project (TRIP). Opening August 13, this new route will go from the Orem Central station to the East Bay area and everywhere in between. As Utah county grows, this project will prove vital to providing access to all Provo/Orem has to offer to those with disabilities and a growing number of students.

Jim Bennett Visits Provo Rotary

August 31, 2017 Congressional Candidate Jim Bennett of the United Utah Party Speaks to the Provo Rotary Club Today the Provo Rotary Club heard from US Congressional Candidate Jim Bennett of the United Utah Party. Jim is the son of former Utah Senator Bob Bennett and discussed his dissatisfaction with the current Republican Party. He discussed many conservative ideals and told the story of how the United Utah Party came to be and how he ended up headlining the party's ticket for the open congressional seat. Odell Miner visits Provo Rotary

August 20, 2107 Odell Miner Today we heard from Odell Miner, a candidate for Provo Mayor. Odell took questions from the group and talked a lot about the greatest asset that Provo has is its human capital; the people that live here. July 27, 2017 Wes Marriott Speaks to the Provo Rotary Club Wes Marriott, a local entrepreneur who is running for the city-wide seat on the Provo City Council was the speaker this week at the Provo Rotary Club. Wes focused his remarks on the need for local government to be innovative and engaging, and how the processes for citizens to participate in local government issues should be simplified and streamlined to be more accessible to all. Logan Moffett, Newest Provo Rotarian This week we also officially welcomed the newest member of the Provo Rotary Club, Logan Moffet. July  20, 2017 Our guest presenter at Rotary on July 20th was BYU Professor and co-author of "The Business Ethics Field Guide,"Aaron Miller. Aaron challenged us to think about the variety of situations that we may have been in or may be in at some point where competing values and priorities actually create ethical dilemmas.
