Joey Hansen introduces Dr. Osgathorpe

Joey Hansen introduced todays speaker, Dr. Russ Osgathorpe, Director of Utah Valley Regional Medical Center's Pediatric Care Unit.  Dr. Osgathorpe first talked about communicable diseases and particularly Polio.  He complimented Rotary for its work in helping to eliminate Polio world wide.  The Rotary International Polio Plus initiative is very close to irradiating Polio from the world.

Dr. Osgathorpe also talked about the need in Utah County for a permanently staffed first class Pediatric Unit.  With the population in the County as large as it is now, there is a need for this kind of a facility.  He and his associates are working with Primary Children's Hospital to upgrade the existing Utah Valley Regional Medical Center Pediatric Care Unit to the capability and quality of care provided at Primary Children's Hospital.  They invision a satalite unit of Primary Children's Hospital operating in the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in the near future.
