Todays meeting was conducted by President Glen ZauggJill Moon and Ron Roberts provided the music for the singing of the National Anthem, then Jill Moon lead the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.  The opening prayer was offered by Greg Hudnall.  There were no guests recognized.  Announcements included the Club Christmas Party next Thursday evening, at the Riverside Country Club.  We will gather at 6:00 pm with dinner to follow at 6:30 pm and a program with American Idol signer Carmen Rasmussen Herbert performing after that.  In the absense of the regular Sergeant, Glen Zaugg handled the Sergeant duties and fines us all appropriately.  The Dictionary Project for the Provo School District will kick-off tomorrow.  Those available will meet at the District Offices at Noon on Friday, December 13th to add Rotary Emblem Stickers and Four Way Test Stickers to the 1,200 Dictionaries the Club purchased.  These Dictionaries will be delivered to third grade students throughout the Provo School District.  Individual club members will be sought to handout the dictionaries in every Elementary School in the City after the New Year.

We apologize for the fact that neither our Photographer, our Back-up Photographer or the Back-up to the Back-up were available for this meeting, so we had to use file photos in this blog and we were unable to get a photo of our speaker.

Speaker

Our speaker was Matt Gibson from a firm called Senior Benefits.  Senior Benefits markets Medicare alternative products to retired individuals over 65.  Matt first talked about the four parts of MedicareThey are Part A which is Hospital Insurance, Part B which is Medical Insurance, Part C which is Medicare Advantage Plans and Part D which is Prescription Drug Plans.  He noted that there are gaps in the Part A and Part B insurance offered by the Government which have given rise to Part C and Part D which are private insurance.  Parts C and D are linked.  He talked about how Medicare Advantage and Medigap Policies fill in the gaps left by the Government Plans.  Medigap Plans are more like the traditional insurance plans and all private insurance carriers offering such plans must offer the same coverage options.  Medicare Advantage Plans are more flexible and each private insurance carrier offers different features and benefits and payment options.  He noted it is possible to enroll in Medicare Advantage Plans that offer a no premium option.  However, anyone signed up for Medicare Part B, the government insurance plan have to pay a $100 plus monthly premium.
