Report of Provo Rotary Meeting Held November 21, 2013

Todays meeting was conducted by President Glen Zaugg.  Ron Roberts and Jill Moon provided the music for the singing of the National Anthem which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.  Thereafter Ron Pugh gave the opening prayer.  Guests included form member Phil Barker and Steve Sabins' and Danny Prager's sons Tommy and Ryan respectively.  The chaplain's report informed us that Jim Calder is now recovering at home from his hip replacement surgery.  All were reminded that the Christmas Party will be held on December 19th at the Riverside Country Club.  We will gather at 6:00 pm with dinner to follow at 6:30 pm and a program with American Idol signer Carmen Rasmussen Herbert after that.  Darrell Jakins handle the Sergeant duties, asking what we were thankful for this Thanksgiving?

Robert Redd introduced today's speaker Andrew K. Walker, a Financial Advisor from Merrill Financial Associate.  Andy was joined in the meeting by his wife Heidi Walker and brother Devin Walker.  Andy talked about financial planning for individuals and families.  He shared strategies for investing as well as saving for the future.  He encouraged all of us to create a savings plan that will help us prepare to future.  He said that we should pay ourselves first each payday by putting some money into savings or other investments for retirement.  He talked about the different types of investments and options that we should consider, together with their benefits and consequences.
