Report of Provo Rotary Luncheon Meeting August 16, 2012


Today's meeting was held at Riverside Country Club. President Vaughn Park conducted with Ron Roberts providing the music. An invocation was offered by Jeff Alexander.
 
Guests included Janette Beckham, wife of Ray Beckham, Alex Edwards, guest of Nathan Beesley, Janelle Jarvis, wife of Don Jarvis and Julie Sabins, daughter of Steve Sabins.
 
 
Ron Pugh indicated that sign-up sheets for next week's summer party at Jolley's Ranch in Hobble Creek Canyon are at each table. There will be NO meeting at Riverside next Thursday.
 
Jerry Summerhays, district governor, will visit our club for his official visit August 30.
 
Carol Walker thanked Rotary for their support of the annual golf tournament of her charity and announced that Bellaire Assisted Living is hosting a car show in American Fork tomorrow evening, August 17.
 
Greg Hudnall served as sergeant with American Grafitti, a 55 Chevy Belaire.

Don Jarvis introduced Peter Cooke, Major General (ret.) of the Utah National Guard with 39 years of active duty. He is running for Governor of Utah with these active campaign promises:

     .  U of U national program for veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan
     .  Education funding and giving school teachers diginity
     .  Ethics in government
     .  Government service should not be a career
     .  Use of public lands
     .  Use of tax dollars for small businesses
     .  Saving the resource we have at Hill AFB
     .  People come to Utah for great lifestyle and educated population
     .  Is opposed to same-sex marraige and abortion in the national democratic charter
     .  Wants a state-wide anti-discrimination law
