Report of the Provo Rotary Club meeting held July 15, 2010
The Rotary luncheon was held at the Provo Downtown Marriott Hotel. President Steve Tolley conducted the meeting. Jill Moon lead and Ron Roberts accompanied the singing of the Anthem and Pledge. Pete Pletsch offered an invocation.
Final sign-up sheets were available for the annual Boys Night outing next Wednesday, July 21, at the Orem Owlz Ballpark. Barbecue with hamburgers and hot dogs will be served at 6:30. The game begins at 7:05.
President Steve Tolley held up a brand new tie and said he is starting a new feature called “Ties that Bind.” All Rotarians are invited to nominate a fellow club member by telling or writing (email) something nice about about her or him. He started it today by recognizing Mike Jacobsen who recently received an award from the Deseret News. Send your nominations to Steve Tolley.
Dean Jackson intoduced speaker Quinn McKay, PhD, author, who spoke to the topic “What is Truth?” He has identified thirteen concepts for honesty. To tell the truth is not just to give the facts but to convey a true impression. (Robert Louis Stevenson) He led a lively discussion with much participation.
