Christmas Party at the Riverside Country Club - December 19, 2013

The Provo Rotary Club Christmas Party was held at the Riverside Country Club on the evening of December 19th.  Ricky Hood was the Master of Ceremonies.  Special thanks go to Scott Kirkland for arranging all the details of the dinner and party.  Also, we appreciate Carol Walker for helping line-up our entertainment, which was provided by Carmen Rasmussen Herbert.  And thanks to Jim Calder for his work with the photography.  It sure makes us look good.  As you will see, fun was had by all that attended.  Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

Our speaker this week was Sven Wilson, professor and chair of the Political Science Department at BYU.  Sven is also the visionary and founder of the Character First movement as highlighted on the Doug Wright show on KSL radio . For this week's meeting,  Sven focused his thoughts on rejecting the populist movement circulating in today's politics and spoke about the necessity of a strong leader who shows compassion and isn't afraid to admit when he or she is wrong. Just another way to keep politics civil and promote goodwill in all aspects of life.
