Ricky Hood Conducts
Today's meeting was held at the Riverside Country Club at Noon with President-Elect Ricky Hood conducting.  Jill Moon lead the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. The opening prayer was offered by David Rogers.  We were happy to welcome Al Cutler who was visiting us again as a potential member and Aaron Sabins, who was visiting with his father, Steve Sabins.  It was announced with a note of sadness that former club member Steve Hatch passed away last Monday after a long battle with ALS. His funeral was Friday, October 4th in Highland, Utah.

As a reminder, the Christmas Party has been scheduled for December 19th, so please inform you spouses or significant others and put that date on your calendars.  Tom Powell performed the Sergeant-At-Arms duties this week and appropriate fines were assessed.  For future reference, remember that the American Flag should always be posted in the position of honor at the speaker's right (to the left of the audience) as he faces the audience. Any other flag so displayed should be placed on the left of the speaker (to the right of the audience).  Scott Kirkland was fortunate he was out of the room when the violation by his team was noticed by our resident scouter.

Steve Tolley introduces the Governor of District 5420

Steve Tolley, club member and Assistant District Governor introduced our District Governor, Steve Skinner. Steve reintroduced the Rotary International theme of "Engage Rotary, Change Lives".  Rotary International President Ron Burton introduced this theme earlier this year.  Steve Skinner cited a number of example of how individual Rotarians and Clubs around the world were doing just that.  He talked about our Rotary Contract as being our commitment to service our community. Steve talked about a number of significant and helpful projects accomplished in District 5420 this year.  He noted that there are 46 Clubs in the State of Utah and our International membership exceeds 1,200,000.  He challenged the club to recruit new members, teach Rotary in our meetings, and work to achieve the Presidential Citation for the year. He also handed out a commitment card and asked us to consider our individual situations and commit to our own specific service goals (see below).
