SPEAKER

Clark Merkley introduced our speaker, Gabriela Benitez, Health Exchange Director with GBS Benefits.  GBS in the largest employee benefits brokerage firm in the State of Utah.  Gabriela talked about the effects of healthcare reform on businesses and individuals.  All businesses and individuals will be affected by the changes.  She talked about strategies to deal with the changes that are already in place and those still anticipated.  It is very clear that the new mandates will translate into significant increases in premium costs in the next few years.  She talked about the new Utah Health Exchange that will be in place next year.   The exchange may have advantages for small business and their employees when compared with traditional plans, including  offering many more options for the employees of those firms than the traditional plans.
