Report of Provo Rotary Luncheon Meeting January 3,
2013
The group met for lunch at Provo's Food and Care Coalition, 299 East 900 South and a talk by Brent Crane, director. Brent pointed out that the primary purpose of the building is to:
1. Elevate the human spirit,
2. Create a location of which the community could be proud, and
3. Build partnerships.
They operate on a shoestring with VERY limited resources. The building is actually very nice, made possible by donations from many people and businesses. Over 50,000 hours of service are donated each year by volunteers from the community. The building and operation are mostly community funded.
Fifty-five dentists donate their time each year to provide free dental services in one of the building's four dental operatories. Clients pay for services in community service hours. Wasatch Mental Health also has an office and provides mental health services. The ARK serves as a partner to run the housing floor which has 38 rooms for transitional stays of up to 90-days.
