June 7: Annual Girls Night party with dinner at the BYU Skyroom followed by the play Arabian Nights.

June 14: Doug Carlisle, Varian Medical Systems (SLC), will relate how his medium-sized company of 700 employees saved $24,020,000 in a short time with the help of one inexperienced sustainability coordinator.



June 28: Installation of new Provo Rotary Club officers.

Today's meeting was held at Riverside Country Club. President-elect Vaughn Park conducted with Ron Roberts and Jill Moon providing the music. An invocation was offered by Bruce Gilchrist.

Don't forget about the annual Girls Night party at BYU on the evening of Thursday, June 7. Meet at the BYU Skyroom at 5:30 p.m. There will be no regular lunch meeting at Riverside.

Carol Walker reported that the Clear Horizons Academy for children with autism is moving this week and could use help loading and unloading boxes.

Kirk Parkinson reminded everyone of the new art show in which he is showing his paintings at the Covey Center opening tomorrow night, June 1 with a public reception for all the artists.

Ricky Hood served as sergeant raising a few dollars for the club's charitable efforts.

Les Smith introduced today's speaker, Jim Evans, president of Xactware, a former member of the Alpine School Board and of the Utah State Board of Regents. He introduced himself as an appointee after the untimely death of Mayor Jerry Washburn. He spoke about a variety of issues going on in Orem including Midtown Village, the Center for Story (an addition to the Orem City Library), the coming of Front Runner train service, freeway construction (closures), bus rapid transit, the Lakeview Parkway connecting Orem and Provo, upcoming summer celebrations, air quality, UTOPIA, and others.
