Speakers
Les Smith introduces our speaker |
Les Smith introduced our speakers: Dr. Richard Nielsen and Brent Hunsaker of the World of Difference Foundation. They recently headed a humanitarian expedition to Africa. The Club donated $1,500 to the World of Difference Foundation for their trip. Dr. Nielsen is president of Rocky Mountain University and Brent Hunsaker is a former Channel 4 news anchor. Our speakers reported on the expedition and showed video clips of the work they engaged in. They built or rebuild from the ground up a school in Kenya. The construction included toilets to improve sanitation, which the school didn't have prior to the new construction. The group took a number of physical therapy students from Rocky Mountain University to help with the project, and to learn at and teach in two Nairobi Hospitals. The work done and experiences related were both impressive and moving. Special thanks go to Les Smith for scheduling this follow-up to our contribution. The group plans another trip in the summer of 2014, which will allow for additional construction on the school, adding a second story on the recently completed one story structure and additional building at the school compound.
