Report of the Provo Rotary Club meeting held August 26, 2010

The Rotary luncheon was held at the Provo Downtown Marriott Hotel. President Steve Tolley conducted the meeting. Jill Moon lead and Ron Roberts accompanied the singing of the Anthem and Pledge. Nathan Beesley offered an invocation.

Guests:

Alan Ash of the Lehi Rotary Club, an Assistant District Governor, was visiting
Dan Conger, president of the BYU Rotaract club and another BYU Rotaract student named Chase Hansen were visiting

Scott Miller of the United Way spoke about a project our club will be doing during the annual Day of Caring Wednesday, September 8, at LaVell Edwards Stadium beginning at 7;30 a.m. with breakfast then going out on a service project until around 11:30 a.m. or so. Plan now to attend with family or professional colleagues.

Steve Sabins introduced Dave Steed as a new member of the Provo Rotary Club. Dave is the associate manager of the Provo Macey’s grocery store in the Riverside Shopping Plaza. WELCOME DAVE!

Alan Ash introduced  who spoke with passion about the wonderful things Rotary is doing in Utah. Among the things she mentioned are:

•The recently re-designed district website at utahrotary.org

•The new Utah Rotary license plates being offered soon by the Utah DMV

•Youth exchange and RYLA youth programs

•The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, the world’s largest private foundation

•A Rotary trip she took to Peru that changed her perspective on international service

•Polio Plus which will soon eradicate polio from the earth

•The annual All-Clubs dinner Saturday evening, January 15, 2011

•Annual District Conference May 12-14, 2011 in Cedar City
