INDUCTION OF NEW OFFICERS

We celebrated the conclusion of a wonderful year under the leadership of Don Jarvis. He and his team did a fabulous job and will be greatly appreciated for their service.

Inducted as President of the Provo Rotary Club for 2017-2018 is NATHAN BEESLEY, who shared a wonderful message including some of the stories of how he became not just a member of Rotary, but a true Rotarian. Nathan reminded us that "this is not my club, your club, or our club; this is THE ROTARY CLUB and we are here to serve others."

Our speaker this week was Sven Wilson, professor and chair of the Political Science Department at BYU.  Sven is also the visionary and founder of the Character First movement as highlighted on the Doug Wright show on KSL radio . For this week's meeting,  Sven focused his thoughts on rejecting the populist movement circulating in today's politics and spoke about the necessity of a strong leader who shows compassion and isn't afraid to admit when he or she is wrong. Just another way to keep politics civil and promote goodwill in all aspects of life.

Glenn Jakins visits Rotary

Today we were pleased to hear from Glenn Jakins. After being introduced by his brother and our fellow Rotarian Darrell Jakins, we were able to hear about his innovations and business ventures, as well as his journeys from Johannesburg, to Cape Town, to London, and eventually Utah.
