Danny Prager introduces Speaker |
Danny Prager introduced Richard Petersen, an attorney with Jones Waldo who specializes in tax especially as it relates to retirement issues. He talked about Estate and Gift Taxes. Gifts can be given annually up to $14,000 per year without tax consequence and so is a good vehicle to pass money to future generations. He talked about the steps of estate planning that include: 1.) Gathering records of property, bank and investment accounts, and "digital assets"; 2.) Identify goals; 3.) Evaluate alternatives; 4.) Meet an attorney; 5.) Take action; 6.) Review plan regularly. His bottom line was to "Do Something". See his slide presentation that follows.
