Report of Provo Rotary Club Meeting held July 18, 2013
Today's meeting was held at the Riverside Country Club at Noon with President Glen Zaugg conducting. Ron Roberts provided dinner music and Jill Moon lead the singing of the National Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance. The invocation was offered by Kevin Williams.
Club Chaplain, Paul Warner reported that Carol Walker was on crutches and Greg Hudnall had had shoulder surgery. Both were in attendance and on the mend. Visitor Teresa Tovares has submitted an application for membership and we are looking forward to her officially joining the club.
Ruth Riley filled the role of Sergeant-At-Arms, assessing fines as she felt appropriate for the day. In addition, she provided a profile document for each clug member to rate themselves on and requested that it be returned in two weeks. A note to the wise, it will cost you next week, if you do not bring the form to our meeting on August 1st. A copy of the form will be emailed to you with this bulletin.
President Glen Zaugg introduced our speaker Tami Harris, Chaplain at Heritage School and a member of the Utah County Interfaith Council. Tami talked about her role as Chaplain at Heritage School and what she has learned from her service as a Chaplain. She explained that she took a non-denominational role at Heritage as an Interfaith Chaplain. In that way she supported the students in whatever religious belief system they were in. She said that the students at Heritage taught her courage. She observed that no matter what the past has been, we all have a spotless future. And she reminded us that there is only one Judge. She talked about what she has learned from other ministers in the community. Tami mentioned she learned a lot about forgiveness from our own Reverend Dean Jackson. When asked about the Interfaith Council, she talked about the various Churches in the community coming together in emergencies to provide service.
