Report of the Provo Rotary Club meeting July 11, 2013

Today's meeting was held at the Riverside Country Club with new Preside Glen Zaugg conducting.  Ron Roberts provided dinner music and Jill Moon lead singing of the National Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance.  The invocation
was offered by Danny Prager

We had two visitors this week.  Linda Palmer introduced Teresa Tovares, who has visited regularly over the last several months.  We are anticipating she will join the club soon.  Joey Hansen introduced Kyle Hatch, a sophmore at Orem High School who is involved with Youth Leadership Community Service.  He talked about an international service project he is seeking financial support for.

We celebrated the Birthdays of those who were born in the month of July.  Merrill Hymas will celebrate his birthday this week.  He was born in Hyrum, Utah.  Scott Kirkland will also celebrate his birthday later this month.  Happy Birthday fellow Rotarians.

Ruth Riley handled the Sergeant-At-Arms duties this week.  In the process, she cut off President Glen Zaugg's tie to the amazement and delight of all attending.  She announced that anyone caught wearing a tie this year could suffer the same fate or be fined or both.  Fellow Rotarians be forwarned!

Before beginning his presentation of the Rotary Theme  for 2013 - 2014, President Glen Zaugg asked Present Elect Ricky Hood to report on his attendance at the recent Rotary International Convention in Lisbon, Portugal.  Following Ricky Hood's remarks, President Glen Zaugg introduced the Rotary Theme for 2013 - 2014 which is "Engage Rotary, Change Lives".  He showed a video of Rotary International President Ron Burton talking about the theme and challenging the various clubs to increase membership by 100,000 in the coming year.  In recent years membership world wide has remained relatively constant with new members replacing those who had dropped-out. The challenge for Rotary is to energize our clubs through meaningful service that will have impact in improving lives around the world.     President Glen Zaugg challenged us to look for ways to grow our club membership and to find ways to provide meaningful service in our community as well as in the international arena.   His Power Point presentation is as follows:
