Report of the Weekly Luncheon Meeting held November 17, 2011
Today's luncheon meeting was held at Alexander's Digital Printing in Lindon with provided prepared by the Texas Roadhouse Restaurant. President Steve Densley conducted. An invocation was offered by Vic Ludlow.
A sign-up list was circulated for delivering dictionaries to each 3rd-grade student in the Provo School District. The list of schools was incomplete so it will be circulated again at the next meeting.
President Steve Densley awarded a check for $1,000 to Dr. Don Jarvis representing Centro Hispano. The check, from the Provo Rotary Charitable Foundation, will be combined with matching funds and used to purchase shoes for needy school children in Provo.
Jill Moon reminded everyone of the annual club Christmas party coming up on Thursday evening, December 15 at Riverside Country Club. A sign-up sheet will be distributed at the next meeting.
President Steve Densley turned the time over to our host, Jeff Alexander, owner of Alexander's Printing, who gave a fascinating slide show about his business and the unique nitch they have carved for themselves. The business started out in 1979 as a ratail copy center in Provo. They built the current facility in Lindon in 1998 and have spent the past 13-year adapting to the fast-changing technology in the printing industry. He showed several types of products they make including short-run books, individualized reminder cards, full-color business cards, free-standing 3-dimentional display stands, large banners, vehicle wraps and many others. After the lunch and the presentation, everyone was invited to take a tour of the facility.
