Report of the Weekly Luncheon Meeting held November 3, 2011

Today's luncheon meeting was held at Riverside Country Club. President Steve Densley conducted with Ron Roberts at the piano and Steve Tolley leading the crowd in singing the Anthem and reciting the Pledge. An invocation was offered by Steve Tolley.
     Guests included Arthur Newell, senior vice-president of American West Bank and Seth Wright, both guests of Steve Densley.
     Birthdays were celebrated for November Rotarians Jeff Alexander, Stan Miller, Kirk Parkinson and Strat Wendelboe.
     Don Jarvis announced the the club's board has approved a $1,000 charitable matching grant for Provo's Centro Hispano organization to be used for shoes for needy children this holiday season. Anyone wishing to conribute may contact Stan Miller for a pledge to be added to the regular quarterly Rotary bill.
     President Steve Densley announced that the club has approved a charitable gift of $600 to Heritage School for their annual fund-raising gala.
     The Provo Rotary Charitable Foundation recently donated sixty winter coats to the Provo School District for distribution to needy children. There was an article in the Daily Herald showing a distribution at Westridge School.
     With the upcoming holiday season, President Steve Densley announced that there will be no regular club luncheon on Thursday, November 24 (Thanksgiving Day), December 15 (Annual Christmas party that night at Riverside Country Club), or the two Thursdays during the Christmas holiday season, December 22 and December 29. Please mark your calendar.
     Following the unanimous recommendation of the the club's past-presidents committee, President Steve Densley announced that the club's board has authorized a change to the bylaws permitting members to be eligibile for election to the club's board of directors after three years of membership rather than five. Those in attendance at today's meeting unanimously ratified this action.
     Ricky Hood served as sergeant getting much laughter and raising a few dollars for the club's charitable foundation.
     Jeff Alexander introduced today's speaker, Coach Dave Rose of the BYU basketball program. Coach has held this position since April 2005 and has since recorded the most successful record in BYU's history. The coach showed clips from a soon-to-be-released documentary of the school's 2010-2011 basketball season, the most successful in the university's history with thirty-two wins. The documentary can be ordered for $19.99 at the website www.byutickets.com. It is a combination DVD/Blu-ray disc set.
