Report of Provo Rotary Meeting Held July 2, 2015

President David Rogers conducted today's meeting.  The pledge was handled by President Rogers and Julie Ron Roberts led the music. No Chaplain report was made.

Derek Marshall, President of Orem Rotary Club, spoke on their fundraising efforts.  He spoke on their pancake breakfast, their attempts to sell yearly sponsorships, and other efforts to make their club effective it doing good for the community.

Our speaker this week was Sven Wilson, professor and chair of the Political Science Department at BYU.  Sven is also the visionary and founder of the Character First movement as highlighted on the Doug Wright show on KSL radio . For this week's meeting,  Sven focused his thoughts on rejecting the populist movement circulating in today's politics and spoke about the necessity of a strong leader who shows compassion and isn't afraid to admit when he or she is wrong. Just another way to keep politics civil and promote goodwill in all aspects of life.

Glenn Jakins visits Rotary

Today we were pleased to hear from Glenn Jakins. After being introduced by his brother and our fellow Rotarian Darrell Jakins, we were able to hear about his innovations and business ventures, as well as his journeys from Johannesburg, to Cape Town, to London, and eventually Utah.
