Report of Provo Rotary Luncheon Meeting November 29, 2012

Today's meeting was held at Riverside Country Club. President Vaughn Park conducted with Jill Moon and Ron Roberts providing the music. An invocation was offered by Bruce Gilchrist.

Chance Carlson
Frank Gardner welcomed his guest Chance Carlson of Bonneville Bank. 

V-Ann Ludlow returned home from rehab this past week. Strat Wendelboe is moving from Stonehenge rehab to the Jamestown Assisted Living facility.

President Vaughn Park reminded everyone of the upcoming annual Provo Rotary Christmas party December 13, 2012. Sign-ups were at each table.

 
The only regular club luncheon in December will be December 6. The speaker will be Tyler Jarvis of the BYU Math Faculty. He is the son of fellow Rotarian Don Jarvis.

Jim Calder encouraged everyone to read this month's Rotarian Magazine.

Pete Pletsch served as sergeant congratulating everyone who could make an environmentally friendly suggestion.

Bruce Powell
Tom Powell introduced the speaker, Bruce Powell, a member of the Centerville/Farmington Rotary Club and the Rotary district (Utah) users chair for the Rotary Foundation.   Bruce and Tom each spoke about the foundation and showed two poignant videos.  



Tom shared two quotes from LDS Church President Joseph Smith: "A man filled with the love of God is not content with blessing his family alone, but ranges through the whole world, anxious to bless the whole human race."  History of the church 4:22. Also: "We are 'to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry the tears of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this church, or any other, or no church at all."  Times and Seasons 15 March 1842
