Report of the Rotary luncheon meeting held February 10, 2011
The Rotary luncheon was held at the Provo Downtown Marriott Hotel. President Steve Tolley conducted the meeting. Ron Roberts played dinner music and accompanied the singing of the Anthem and Pledge which was lead by Jill Moon. Wayne Beesley offered an invocation.
Paul Warner welcomed his guest John Hardy who will be assisting the Freedom Festival with the annual Rotary Festival Classic golf tournament scheduled for June 20, 2011.
While he was standing Paul Warner also announced a Freedom Festival movie night February 16, 2011 at the SCERA. A PBS movie on John and Abigail Adams will be shown free to the public.
David Rogers announced a need for team hosts March 9-12, 2011 for a basketball invitation at UVU.
Andy Anderson served as sergeant for the day.
Tom Powell introduced speakers Joan Dixon and Teresa Tavares of Centro Hispano, a non-profit organization in Provo dedicated to the mission to orient and mentor members of the Hispanic community in order for them to gain access to needed resources that will strengthen their families and their contributions to the community. They spoke with passion and enthusiasm about their outreach program, showed a Power Point program and answered questions. The program offers education classes, low-income tax help and health education for members of Utah Valley's Hispanic community.
